ERMAHGERD IT'S MANE PONY AND OC SHIPPING, SHUUUUUUUUUUUUN
There, I said it for all of you. Yep, Starbright is my pony self. Ah, guilty pleasures. We all have them, when all is said and done. I'm normally no fan of said shipping, but, well... Look at my name. I simply could not resist getting a tribute to my love of Twi. And I've come to think that each of us is entitled to at least one expression of our favours. I decided to make mine count. So, there you have me. Guilty as charged, commissioning a thing to express myself. Let me have my own little paradise. We all need one.
There're so many things that I love about this "comic"—the quotation marks are there because it is not simply a comic, but something more. It's a collage of paintings, I guess that would be the best way to describe this. And those paintings are every bit as good as I could hope for them to be, all things considered. This painterly style and variations thereof are the reason I originally started commissioning you, after all. It was mighty brave of you to come forward with such a grand idea. After all, what I originally hoped for was just the bottom panel. But when you mentioned you could do this, I, well... I went like this , because it's nothing short of perfect. And I thank you for soldiering on and managing to make it this good. When I saw the sketch, my mental image of the final version was pretty much the same as the finished version I see here.
So much thought in this. I absolutely adore your idea with tree/s forming the framing for the panels, as it makes perfect sense in the context of the library tree. And all the little things in each panel, with every single one of them being remarkable in their own right. What is the most impressive thing about it, aside from it being an entire complete and cohesive collage of paintings, is the lighting work and use of ambient light to show the passage of time. I love how it so gradually, bit by bit. It feels natural. And it's reflected beautifully even on the frames, particularly on that last one. It's also quite cute indeed. You managed to take my original list of potential ideas and use them to build a story, and that story gives me my own personal warm little feeling. Indeed, all those little things. You kept Twilight decidedly herself, you managed to reflect my pony self well despite him only having a few disjointed pictures outside of this, and you managed to portray the emotions of both quite well indeed. And all the little details in panels are not lost on me.
Well worth the money, I say. I wish I could've given extra, but alas. Thank you, maker. Thank you.
It's also the first thing of its kind that I see in bronydom, or possibly anywhere else. A truly painterly comic. Indeed, I hope that this idea will take off and spread and become more popular. It's a great thing for a community so full of artists as bronydom is.
That's just how I roll. The more impressed or invested into something I am, the longer my comments get. And this here is something special all right.
The words are well deserved. It's something truly unique and beautifully done. I do hope this format will become popular. If so, I'll know that you were the one who helped it start its life in bronydom.
